Eight water-driven mills located on the little Salado River, now referred to as Salado Creek, were once the economic life-blood of the Salado community. But as time went by, each of these historic mills succumbed either to flooding, changes in milling technology, or time itself, so that all that remains of these once-working mills are fond memories of the past, idle remnants of the mills themselves, and the stories that have grown up around them. This page tells the story of each of those mills.
